Frequently Asked Questions
What is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. You become a CSA member by purchasing a share of our harvest at the beginning of our growing season, when we need that money most. Your early investment helps us with our seasonal start-up costs like seeds, tools, potting soil, compost, and most important - paying the farmers in the winter months when we don’t have products to sell! In return, we provide you with a weekly share of our harvest all summer long. Learn more about our veggie shares and flower shares.
What will I receive in my share?
Our goal is to give our members a seasonal diversity of the freshest, most popular crops that we grow. Each week veggie members will choose 7 items from 15 - 20 crops that we have harvested fresh from the fields! We will aim to have a continuous supply of salad greens, cooking greens (kale & chard), and root veggies (radishes, carrots, beets, etc.) in addition to favorites like peas, beans, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers and squash available when they’re in season. Find examples of our seasonal harvest selection here.
How many people does a share feed?
You know your needs best! One share includes 7 items which we typically package in portion sizes that work well for two people (1 bunch of kale, 1/2 lb. of arugula, 1 pint of cherry tomatoes, etc.) The value of each week’s share comes to $30, so if you know your family needs more veggies, it might be worth considering purchasing 2 shares, or supplementing at our Saturday farmstand, the grocery store or a local farmers market!
What happens if I go on vacation?
If you know you will be out of town, you may arrange for a friend or neighbor to pick up in your place - no need to let us know. Please clearly communicate our pick-up hours & pick-up process to your substitute. We always have staff on site to help explain things as well!
