Why we grow Native Perennials

At Bumbleroot, we've always believed a farm should give back more than it takes — and growing native perennials is how we extend that past our own fields and into yours. We raise them the way we grow everything here: from seed, in living soil, certified organic and tended by hand. Every species we offer belongs in this landscape — Maine-adapted plants that evolved alongside our bees, butterflies, and songbirds. When you plant them, you're not just filling a garden bed; you're rebuilding habitat, one yard at a time, right where you live. A single milkweed can raise a monarch; a patch of mountain mint can feed dozens of species at once. That's the whole reason we grow them — because the ecosystem doesn't stop at the farm's edge, and neither should the work of caring for it. Soil grown, ecosystem rooted, and ready for your corner of Maine.
